Cody Brady DTL World Champion

It has been a successful week for the Northern Ireland shooters that journeyed to South Africa for the 14th ICTSF World DTL Championships.

Met with tough conditions the Northern Ireland Team competed with determination showing their skills at the South African Grand and Mackintosh Events in the lead up to the 3 days of competition for the World Championships. Taking medals throughout the classes and categories this was only a taster of what was to come, especially for junior Cody Brady.

The team events concluded after 200 targets and this saw success for our ladies and junior teams. It was GOLD for the dream team of Cody Brady, Mark Hunter and Craig McKeown leading the way 21 points ahead of Ireland in second. The ladies team of Katie McQuillan, Angela Miller and Steph Porter secured an excellent silver pushing England into third.

The final day brought Northern Ireland our first ever Junior World Champion! Cody Brady shot out of his skin to take the Gold medal finishing on 869ex900, six points clear of silver medallist James Sullivan (NZL). A massive well done from all at the UCPSA to Cody on this fantastic result. We are looking forward to watching Cody's shooting career grow.

Cody was not alone on the podium after the 3 day competition with Gary Conaghty claiming Gold in B Class and junior Daniel Monaghan taking home Gold in C Class.

Well done to all our Northern Ireland shooters for a successful trip to South Africa.
